Summary: Sixth-grader and cocky-proclaimed genius Nate Wright faces his all-time enemy, Gina, when they are paired to work on a enquiry paper together and she likewise gets a position on his intramural team.Fun, quick read that integrates traditional text and comics inside the volume. Kind of a mix of a graphic novel and a regular book. I liked the first book so I wanted to read the adjacent one in the series. I think kids would really like it, particularly boys. Nate is confident about his comics and his ability to helm his fleeceball team in the large school tournament. Not agape to say what is on his mind, Nate is often in trouble with the teachers, the main, and the school bully. Things are going well until he is assigned to piece of work on a Ben Franklin Project with the person he hates nigh in this globe, Gina (the teacher's pet) AND she is picked to be on his fleeceball team.
Funny parts I enjoyed: Nate creates some funny and original comic strips about what he learns nearly Ben Franklin. Nate selects the perfect name for his fleeceball team, Psycho Dogs, but when he doesn't tell the omnibus in time, Gina names the team the Kuddle Kittens.

I received an Accelerate Reader'southward Re-create of Big Nate Strikes Again past Lincoln Pierce. I did not receive any compensation for reviewing this book.Kids who love Greg Hefley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid are going to love Nate Wright. Parents volition probably like Nate meliorate.
Based on the comic strip "Big Nate" this series details the trials and tribulations of sixth grader Nate Wright. Nate finally has a chance to win the coveted SPOFFY Bays (Sports Played But For Fun). He'southward been selected as a team captain for fleeceball – an indoor version of baseball. But naught ever goes smoothly. Kept after school by a teacher, Nate is unable to make it to the meeting to pick his team. He lucks out and his best friends Teddy and Francis are on the team, but so is his archenemy – A+ know it all Gina! Non only does he take to put up with Gina on his fleeceball team, he's paired with her on a social studies projection. Can things get any worse or more hilarious?
The humor in this volume is definitively age appropriate. Equally an unproblematic librarian I spend a good deal of fourth dimension around immature children. The humor is right on target, but it's non so obnoxious (equally some child like humor – Captain Underpants for case – can be) that adults will not enjoy it as well. I dearest Jeff Kinney and his Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. But lets be honest, I think I like Nate better. (Don't worry I'll still anxiously await whatsoever new Wimpy Kid books.) Nate is one of those likeable characters. Ever upward to something, but so charming y'all can't assistance but like him. If y'all work in a school, y'all know what I'm talking nigh.
As I mentioned in the beginning, I received an Advanced Readers' Copy of this book. I liked it so much that not simply am I going to recommend it to my students, I've already ordered a hard comprehend copy of this and the first book in the series for my library at home.
Recommended for tertiary grade and up. (The AR reading level is 3.0 and fifty-fifty though Nate is a 6th grader, based on my experience I'thousand pretty sure 3rd grade and older will enjoy this volume.)

Mom's Review: Honestly didn't even need to bother reading this since Jake told me the whole story when he was writing up his review. Must remind him about spoilers. But I read it anyway and I concur pretty much with Jake's opinion on this i. Information technology isn't as practiced as the first book, merely still definitely worth the price. Nate is a fun character and I really like the friendship betwixt him and his two buddies. It is very realistic the fashion they diss each other. Trust me, I have watched Jake with his buddies Brian and Matthew and they love the dissing. Similar the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, this is an crawly series for reluctant readers. There is a good mix between illustrations and writing to keep even the most reluctant reader interested. I really recommend these exist part of all school and public libraries. Hopefully they will get the aforementioned attending equally the Wimpy Kid books. BTW, there is a Librarian in this and actually could you not accept fabricated her a footling less stereotypical -- I know picky, picky.

We received this from the HarperCollins booth at the OLA and wasn't required to review it, we just actually liked them

In my opinion, this book exceeds its predecessor on almost levels. When at its all-time, the humor is fully on par with that of Jeff Kinney'due south Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, and the storyline shows improved depth and creativity when compared to Lincoln Pierce's first novel-in-cartoons about Big Nate.Nate Wright faces two large upcoming events at the same fourth dimension as the book gets under way. The first is the handing out of a major project in the social studies class of the intimidating Mrs. Godfrey, Nate's least-favorite teacher. The project calls for 2-person collaboration, and Nate is randomly matched for the assignment with his archenemy Gina, whose generally obsequious attitude toward scholastic achievement and teacher relations gets on Nate'due south fretfulness to an extent matched past few other students. Now he has to find a way to work peaceably with Gina in coming upwards with a quality social studies project, or he'll be in danger of failing the class.
The second big upcoming event as the book begins is the commencement of intramural sports season. Nate has been selected equally captain of the Fleeceball (it's an indoor version of baseball) team, and he's eagerly gunning to win the coveted SPOFFY bays for the first time. His luck with intramural sports hasn't e'er been keen in the past, just this year he's entered in a sport at which he actually excels, and he knows that his all-time opportunity to cop the accolade has finally arrived. In that location are simply three problems: Nate's athletic nemesis, Randy Betancourt, has been named captain of the squad that poses the virtually serious threat to Nate's championship, Gina (!) has been assigned as a actor on Nate'southward side, and a mixup with the deadline for choosing squad names has led to Nate's team being named the "Kuddle Kittens"...which was, of course, Gina'south thought.
The social studies project that Nate and Gina are collaborating on is to be a report about the life of Benjamin Franklin. Commonly, Gina is a consistent A+ pupil and Nate barely gets passing grades because he doesn't care as much about excelling in academics, just when Nate begins to read about Benjamin Franklin, he finds something of a kindred spirit in the American founding father. History takes on a deeper sense of existent life, and Nate begins to recall that maybe the project won't be a elevate after all.
The Fleeceball league championship and finished social studies project come together in unexpected ways, creating some surprising heroes as the stories accomplish their common conclusions. I think that Nate has actually learned something by the end of this book, and what he learns isn't at all obvious or heavy-handed. Lincoln Pierce is a good author, and Big Nate Strikes Again is a fine example of his overall artistic ability.
Above all else, this book is ingeniously comical. I laughed as hard as I had while reading the Diary of a Wimpy Child books, and I tin can't say that very often. Large Nate Strikes Again was a smashing deal of fun to read, and if Lincoln Pierce can keep up this level of sense of humour in time to come books, and so I can't look to get my hands on them and come across what more Nate has in store for us. I would recommend Big Nate Strikes Over again for anyone who enjoys the Diary of a Wimpy Kid serial and appreciates their distinctive make of sense of humour, or for anyone who, as in my case, absolutely loves the Large Nate comic strip and can't get enough of Nate Wright's adventures.

This book was very enjoyable even though it had its downsides I had a groovy fourth dimension reading information technology. I gave this volume three stars because information technology was funny but it wasn't the most interesting volume. I recommend this book for people who like comedy and humor.

Reading Fourth dimension: Took me about an hr.
In this book so far, it has been very funny and relatable. This book is funny because of how he compares things, and how he describes people. He is relatable because because he loves to play sports and hates homework. I predict that he will win the Championship with his team confronting Randy Betancourt, and his project will Gina will go expert. I don't recall that him and Gina are going to end arguing and hating each other. SPOILER Alert

I gave this volume three stars considering I idea it was some other nifty Large Nate volume. Nate must face the harsh news of Gina, Nate's rival and the class pet, joining his school "fleeceball" team, which is pretty much like baseball but the rules are a bit different. This was a practiced one, simply equally good as the showtime. Funny storyline, good characters- the first book fabricated me read the 2d. I thought this was bang-up, and this is a expert volume for all ages.
